Who we are
We are a nonprofit organization devoted to helping improve the livelihood of the children within the Khayelitsha community. These children have suffered through abuse, neglect, rape, and extreme poverty. Many of our children come from child headed families or do not have proper living conditions. It is imperative that we help develop the lives of these children so they have the opportunity to be successful and live fully to their potential.
How Siyakhathala Works
Receives recommendations from partnering schools to locate children in need.
Siyakhathala’s team visits these children to assess current situation.
If child is deemed to be in need of help, they are welcomed into Siyakhathala’s program.
Siyakhathala assists these children in applying for government grants.
Children attend after school programs for education, counselling, and basic skills training. Children also receive weekly meals and are ensured a safe and loving place to come to.
How you can get involved
By donating to Siyakhathala, you can ensure a child's safety and well-being by supporting our organization. 100% of all donations go directly to Siyakhathala and are used to enhance facility equipment, staff training, provide food, and put on extra curricular programs for the children.
Our Holiday Program
During winter months in South Africa, Siyakhathala hosts a holiday program for the children. This is a place for them to come together in a safe environment where they can meet life long friends, learn important lessons, and receive weekly meals.
These children live within extremely impoverished communities in Khayelitsha, South Africa. Some are victims of abuse, rape, and violence. Many of these children are apart of child headed households. Without the support of Siyakhathala, they would be on the streets, without a home, and with out any support. Khayelitsha has one of the highest crime rates in South Africa, as well as one of the highest rates of HIV in youth. Siyakhathala works to educate these children to proactively avoid the possibility of them become involved in these situations.
